Notebook films, as I see them, are the cinematic equivalent of sketches. These give glimpses of the process of making DEAR LINA.
TOC TIC went in and out of the film a number of times, but ultimately didn't make the final cut.
IMMIGRATION IN OSLO
Duration: 2 mins 10 secs
This is a short sequence from the film where Lina tells about her experience with immigration while arriving in Oslo for the first time.
PABLO ESCOBAR & "SYCARIOS"
Lina tells about how boys her age used to be recruited to work as "sycarios" or assassins while she was growing up in Medellin.
PAINTING SEQUENCE
An expressionist sequence of Lina painting.
"BROKEN TONGUE"
Lina tells about feeling isolated in quiet Norway versus busy Medellin and of how she earned the right to living there.
SILENT HEIGHTS
Silent Heights is a short sketch I made some years ago in Norway. Some of the footage made its way into DEAR LINA, but not the whole sequence as it is.
This was filmed on a small island outside of Tjøme, on the South Eastern coast of Norway. Summer can be quite magical in that part of the world.
LINA AT THE FLOWER FARM
This clip is not in the final film but shows Lina leaving the farm where her grandparents live, to go and see her uncle who ran a flower farm at the time.
